What really gets me is this lady's cluelessness about what she's doing. I love his analogy about the grocery store. To the previous poster, I understand the idea you're making. I mean, if someone is bombarding your body with radio waves, shouldn't you have the right to take those waves and do with them what you want. But, most jurisdictions in the USA have laws similar to 'Theft of Services' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theft_of_services) on the books, and this falls into that category. I know a guy who doesn't buy trash service, but takes his trash every day in a small bag and drops it in the trashcan at the entrance to a grocery store he frequents. Technically, this is 'theft of service', even though someone might argue, "hey - the trash can is there for people to use." |

I'm not sure of every law
I'm not sure of every law governing WIFI, but people need to understand that a router puts out a WIFI signal that is simply a radio signal put out into the public air for anyone to pick up, just like your car radio recieves broadcasts from a radio station. Your laptop or USB reciever for a desktop picks up those signals in the air, and viola - you get internet. The whole reason for encrypting your WIFI is so that the whole world doesnt share your connection and possibly steal from you. So how can someone "govern" a radio signal that freely floats through the air for anyone to grab? Its like trying to govern where the wind blows.
