amazing. but its a fact that Israel got one of the best air-force's in the world if not the best (relatively of course).

1. I served with the Air force when this thing happened and I remember it vividly. As for zionist USUK- what's the point? What does it show? As propaganda goes this is not very effective. remember, the first component of conviction is a motive, what's the motive of releasing a movie about an F15 withstanding a training accident?

2. The IAF IS better, not just better equipped. 2 years ago, in a joint training with the USS Nimitz, the tally was Israel 105 US Navy 2. Of course this is too embarrassing to get published.

You can say what you like, its a fact israeli pilots are #1.

at the age of 18 they start training and a few years later they fly an F16.

Every war in the israeli area is dealt with using 90% AirForce and the arab countries around have no way to stop them, so saying if they had enough time means nothing if they cant even shoot down an aircraft.

Consider how much wing area has been lost, perhaps 60% on the one side (remember the engine nacille also provides lifting area). That leaves 70 % of the total area still there. But in addition one can get more lift from the tail surfaces, so the problem is flying straight and not remaining in the air.

The tail surfaces provide for this. It is not the pilot who is so brilliant but the airplane designer who was sucessful. By providing a lot of rolling power he enabled the pilot to hold the starboard wing up.

Our pilots are no better than any other well trained ones but when we use airframes that have been designed for contingencies including this, together with good maintanence, then the result is indeed praiseworthy.

Signed: by somebody who knows.

Not only are the pilots the best. It was the plane he was flying that got him home. And it was US made. The F-15 is considered one of the Worlds Top Aircraft and in fact has little to nothing being it's equal. Not even the SU-27 family of Soviet aircraft. None can match the F-15 F-14 F-18 aircraft, of America. Sad to see the F-14 slip off into History. But with what a record !to retire on. Nor can the Mig 29 match the F-16 or F-18 on that Migs best day.
Let's hear it for US aircraft makers ! Who Rah

only an israeli pilot and an israeli soul can do something like that. it's not about the plane or the situation it's about two things: god and israel. the only truth on earth.

OK - Its a nitnoid fact but F-15s and F-16s DO have a tail hook - its an emergency brake for disabled planes or really rotten runway conditions. Navy planes have heavy duty hooks because they are the main stopping method on a carrier, but some USAF planes have them too. Next time you're at an airshow, take a peek under an F-16's rear or between the engine nozzles on an F-15 or F-15E - the tip that catches the wire is visible even if the shaft may be covered by a metal plate (as on the Eagle).
I can't get the movie to show (old decrepit computer) but I remember reading an account of the flight. After the collision, the instructor pilot called for ejection, but the student (he may have been in refresher training after a desk job, or converting from F-4 or F-16 to the F-15) quickly figured out he could control the plane if he did certain things. He had no idea he'd lost the wing until he was climbing out of the plane upon landing.
If the video on this site is a recreation, then shame on History or Discovery or the Military Channel - they flippin' know better than to cobble together footage of the wrong planes.
Unfortunately, the need to have new material for viewers and possibly a programming selector who isn't an airplane aficionado may have combined to allow an exciting but inaccurate set of footage to be presented.

Having been an Eagle Keeper, I can most definitely assure you that F-15's have tail hooks - and quite beefy ones. The F-16 also has a tail hook, but it looks downright flimsy in comparison.

Many (most?) Air Force bases have arresting cables at at least one end of one runway. In the case of the F-15, if you lose utility hydraulics you lose your brakes. Your back-up brakes come from the JFS accumulators and bypass the anti-skid valves meaning that you are slamming up to 3000 psi into the brakes. The wheels WILL stop! The usual result is a plane that skids rapidly to the side and tumbles. So most pilots, upon losing their utility system, will take the cable.

As for the video - only the still shots are real. What do you expect? The chance of there being any actual footage of the event is vanishingly small. The story was put together for the general viewing audience who, especially today, want to be visually entertained and little more. The people making the video may or may not have known the difference between an A-4 and an F-100, but they don't have an unlimited amount of time or money to find footage suitable for their needs - they have to work with what they can readily find. In any event, they almost certainly didn't care since what they did know is that 99+% of their target audience neither knows nor cares.

While I would love to see better attention to detail, what I would really appreciate is recreated footage being labelled as such.

Right on, a fellow Eagle Keeper. I was with the 43rd Fighter Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, AK, back before they disbanded as an F-15C/D squadron in the early 90s. One of our sister squadrons, 90FS, were E-models. Why they showed E-models taking off in the beginning of this video is beyond me. I used to enjoy standing out in front of the hangar watching the practice "catch the wire" landings. Lots of sparks generated from the arresting hook for sure !

Israel basically gets our leftovers as far as F-15s go, and without all the advanced avionics and weapons. Best pilots ? Not even close. The best F-15 pilots in the world are from the USA, bar none. One thing I would love to see is 20 Israeli pilots in 20 of the F-15s we gave them go up against a single F-22 Raptor. As much as I hate to say it, 20 dead Eagles.

It is an interesting post, and really appreciable. The clearness in your post is simply spectacular and i can assume you are an expert on this subject. I will grap each and every information and refer to my friends also.

well...well...well..what r those people chit-chat around here?..
Is this about the 'miracle' airplane? the 'wow' pilot on earth? the 'hated other people' channel? the most briliant mankind ever exist? or bla..bla..bla..
The fact; 'promised by God' people don't killed or do whatever they likes...but reality they breached the 'promises'...

Now just imagine a U.S. Marine Aviator flying this plane! The difference: He wouldn't have landed, he would have continued the fight! And developing technology? Please...where did they get the F-15 from....hmmmm...oh yeah, the U.S.! Some of you people need to reevaluate your comments and learn some more facts before you start talking! And learn grammer and spelling for pete's sake!

Posted on Wed, 03/21/2007 - 12:44am by Anonymous

You can ask anybody with some knowledge and the will always tell you that Israel have by far the best air force in the word, they have one pilot for every 300 enemy pilots and they always defeating their enemy. Maybe the Arafat moron can explain all of us why?

Hey Anonymous "US Marine aviator flying this plane..."
I hope you read this one day. I know it is several months after your post that degrades others for their spelling etc...
Just thought I'd let you know YOU SPELLED "GRAMMER" WRONG...
It's spelled GRAMMAR you moron... Typical freakin' jarhead criticizing others when he himself seems to be an even bigger idiot than those he is chastizing.

Posted on Thu, 06/14/2007 - 9:35am by Anonymous

Umm...chastising, not chastizing.

Spelling errors when criticizing another's spelling who was criticizing yet another's spelling is rich...

Off topic but.......

they should make it a grammatical question instead of a math question....seriously.

Posted on Fri, 10/26/2007 - 12:06pm by Anonymous

this just proves how crap the pilots r, since the plane is so good a monkey can ride it and yet isreali cant!

first they steal land...
har har

Posted on Mon, 12/03/2007 - 3:51pm by Anonymous

israel did not steal any land, it belongs to the jewish ppl from the begining of time. get your facts right!
the IAF is considered to be the best in the world!
have you ever seen an F-15 in real life? well i did and i'm shure you would not be able to fly one... espesialy with 1 wing!!!

Posted on Fri, 01/25/2008 - 9:45pm by Anonymous

So this is what's meant by "coming in on a wing and a prayer"?

Posted on Thu, 01/31/2008 - 6:51am by Anonymous

Hey Geniuses - the video footage is fake - all they did was take stock footage of an F-15, then white-out the right wing. The only thing that is valid are the still photos taken on the ground afterwards. But don't let that stop your oooing and ahhhhing. (Bunch of kids who are only now discovering the characteristics of fighter jets.)

Posted on Sun, 03/16/2008 - 10:20pm by Anonymous

Genius, you sound like the you know exactly how to fake it, had lots of experience in doing so.

This vid really has nothing to do with Israel. Its about a good plane and an awesome pilot. I'm sure many countries have ace pilots who have performed similar feats. This is no miracle this is just damn good piloting. You cant blame Israelis for being proud of their armed forces but remember some of the greatest armies in the world have been beaten by some of the poorest, powers rise and fall and nothing lasts forever.

Posted on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 10:51pm by Anonymous

GOD was with him!! It was Divine intervention that he survived.

Funny that such a great plane had it's ass kicked repeatedly by the Australian Air Force using thirty year old F1-11 fighter bombers that are not even close to being in the same league. Nowhere near as manoeuvrable and not built for dog-fighting in the first place in more than one war games exercises.

Posted on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 3:09am by Anonymous

pakistan's pilots are capable of more

Posted on Thu, 10/01/2009 - 4:39am by Anonymous

the promised land. load of rubbish. that land was given to you in 1948 by the U.N or league of nations for the displaced jewish people of WW2.

Sorry to disapoint you, but I've been in the IAF and I know for a fact that the US army didn't give us two F-15. The US army was so jenerous when they gave us a F-15 wing. You may think it is crazy but just that wing coasts so much that it was a really nice gift.

Gee, weren't the Israeli pilots the once that disabled Egypt, Jordan and Syria's air forces whiting the first few hours of the 1967 war? By the way the Arabs had all Mig airplanes and pilots trained by Russians and in many cases flown in combat by Russians, guess you guys know only how to take off because the landing is done for you by the Israelis. Yes the F-15 are fabulous planes but a nitwit like you wouldn't know that the Israelis modify the planes to suit their need and turn them into superior flying machines. Don't you Russki wish you had pilots like that or planes like that?

He could do the impossible.
The jet stopped only a few meters before the end of the runway.
There is no word to say.
